Golden Girl: ¼ϲʿ Dog Finds Forever Home After Eight Months at Kent Rescue Centre

26 Sep 2023

Staff at ¼ϲʿ’s Brands Hatch centre are celebrating after a dog, who spent over 270 days in the care of the leading animal welfare charity, has finally found a new home to call her own. The celebrations are all the more meaningful as the charity shines a light on rescues as part of ‘Wear Blue for Rescue’ this September.

Five-year-old Goldendoodle, Rosie, came into ¼ϲʿ’s centre in Kent on a snowy day back in December 2022 and thanks to the work of the charity’s dedicated staff, she has now been waved off to start a new life full of treats, snuggles and adventures.

When Rosie first came to ¼ϲʿ, she was very worried and shy and staff took the time to build up a special bond with this golden girl so she could get used to meeting new people.

Slowly but surely, Rosie came out of her shell and after getting used to the world around her, she started to let out her sweet and affectionate side. This young lady was soon showing off her charming and intelligent ways, quickly picking up commands such as sit and wait as well as showing off her agility skills.

With the average time taken to rehome a ¼ϲʿ dog being 35 days, Rosie had spent almost 8 times longer with the much-loved animal welfare charity and despite her progress, she was still waiting for that special someone to sweep her off her paws.

After spending time with one of ¼ϲʿ’s dedicated foster carers and getting used to life in a home environment, Rosie finally found her forever home and is now keeping her new owners entertained by running around in the garden and sprawling out on the sofa for evening snoozes. She has even been taken out on her first big adventure to Skegness where she enjoyed playing on the beach.

Lisa Stockwell, Rehoming and Welfare Manager at ¼ϲʿ Brands Hatch, said: “It’s heartwarming to see golden girl Rosie find happiness at long last. She became a firm favourite here amongst our staff, who all came out to wave goodbye as she set off to start a new life. It’s fantastic to see her find the loving home she deserves, especially this September when we’re taking the time to celebrate our wonderful rescue dogs and cats who deserve a chance at happiness”.

Throughout September the much-loved charity is asking pet lovers everywhere to support ¼ϲʿ’s ‘Wear Blue for Rescue’, an opportunity for pet owners and supporters to come together and show their love for rescue dogs and cats who really need a second chance in life, both here in the UK and abroad.
